Why does carpet ripple again a year after it was stretched?
Usually because it was kicked, not stretched. A knee kicker only shifts slack a few feet. A power stretcher braces wall to wall and pulls the backing itself, then the carpet is re-trimmed and tucked. Waves that return along the same long wall are a tension problem, not a carpet problem.
Slab-on-grade changes the anchoring. There is no subfloor to nail into, so tack strip here is fastened into concrete.
